A proud Wilson native, Melodie Powell serves as Director of Donor Relations for United Way of Wilson County, where she builds relationships with donors, businesses, and community partners to help advance the organization's mission of improving lives across Wilson County.
Melodie graduated from North Carolina State University in 2001 and spent 18 years in education before joining United Way. Throughout her career, she has developed strong connections across the community while leading fundraising efforts and service projects that supported local nonprofit organizations serving Wilson County families.
An active member of First Baptist Church, Melodie has served on a variety of committees and ministries, reflecting her lifelong commitment to service and volunteerism. She believes lasting change happens when people come together to invest in their neighbors and work toward a common purpose.
At United Way, Melodie focuses on strengthening partnerships, engaging donors, and connecting businesses and individuals with opportunities to create lasting impact. She is passionate about helping the United Way of Wilson County fulfill its mission of lifting Wilson residents out of poverty.
Outside of work, Melodie enjoys spending time with her husband, James, and their three sons, Will, Lee, and Redden. She also enjoys playing pickleball, reading, and walking or running with her dogs and friends.
