Jamie Soncrant, manager of the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 2700 Ward Blvd., left, presents a $1,000 Spark Good local grant check to United Way of Wilson County Executive Director Judi Thurston, center, and Resource Development Director Olivia Neeley, right.

The grant benefits United, We Care, a United Way program that assists Wilson County Schools students experiencing homelessness under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. The program fills gaps when local resources are unable to help, focusing on immediate basic needs.

In the 2024-25 school year, 258 Wilson County students were identified as homeless under the federal McKinney Vento-Homeless Assistance Act.

We are grateful to Walmart for their generosity and commitment to our community to spark good! This is what Living United looks like.
