We know that to many United Way is well known, but not well understood. That’s why we want to make sure you know what we do.
United Way unites our community around complex problems. We lead the fight for the health, education, and financial stability of every Wilsonian.
We bring together donors, volunteers, businesses, nonprofits, faith-based, community leaders, government, experts, and those in need. Together, we seek out Wilson’s toughest challenges, set sound strategies and goals, and then tackle them at their roots… in a UNITED WAY.
But that still may not answer the question “What do you do?”
Unite
We bring together community stakeholders like our donors, volunteers, businesses, nonprofits, faith-based, community leaders, government, experts, and those in need, to identify challenges in the areas of Education, Income and Health.
Strategize
Each challenge is broken down to its root causes, and together United Way and the stakeholders develop research-based comprehensive strategies to make significant and sustainable progress on addressing Wilson's toughest issues.
Tackle
Once the strategies are set, it's time for action. We invest in or create initiatives designed to move us steadily toward the goals for 2024. We convene coalitions, advocate for public policy, raise awareness and mobilize volunteers.
Evaluate
We create metrics and continuously measure and evaluate the results of these investments, holding every initiative accountable to ensure they are making real progress. The goals for 2024 are not aspirations, they are destinations.
Community Impact
We work across Wilson County to develop and implement strategies that make a difference in our local community. We support programs, services and initiatives that deliver results in the areas of Education, Income, and Health. We provide support to 24 non-profit agencies in Wilson County.
Through generous donations, rigorous campaign strategies, and the work of our volunteers and staff, we are able to provide support to those 24 non-profit agencies, but we are also able to make a direct impact to our community members.
To the right are a few data points that show our impact in Wilson County. We could not do our work without the efforts of our agencies, volunteers and donors. THANK YOU!
